2008 Beneficial Service Expedition to Guatemala

Heath Bowen,
Financial Professional, Idaho Falls, Idaho

Consistent with Beneficial Financial Group's fundamental values of building families and communities, the Company is sponsoring its first-ever Service Expedition to Guatemala for eight days in April.

A group of about 34 Beneficial people—Company agents and their spouses or other family member, a Home Office employee and his spouse, and a small contingent of Home Office leaders—will repair a schoolhouse in the small, remote village of Chimaxyat in the Cloud Forest Region of Guatemala. They will repair the floors, install new windows, and build interior walls in the school.

“Beneficial recognizes its top life sales agents with an opportunity to travel to a third-world country or community in need and spend a week working with people and community. Agents who qualify are asked to make a donation to the community in both time and money. Additionally, Beneficial commits time, resources, and money in an effort to help the community become sustainable. Whether it be building schools, water systems, health clinics, or teaching children basis skills, Beneficial is there to help. Since the Service Expedition was introduced and I’ve worked toward qualifying to go, I’ve thought a lot about why I’m in the business—truly it’s to help people.”

“This type of expedition is a very direct way to help improve the lives of others. I think giving of one’s self is the key—when you give to others, you actually receive more from the experience for yourself. Being able to take a family member with me on the expedition will be wonderful.
