Here are some quick facts about VST:

Frequently asked questions about VST

  1. What is VST? Voluntary Service Term (VST) is term life insurance. It provides $5,000 of term insurance for qualified applicants who provide full-time, voluntary, uncompensated mission or humanitarian service under the active supervision of a sponsor that is either an incorporated ecclesiastical organization or an incorporated organization specializing solely in humanitarian or charitable activity. Examples of qualified applicants include church missionaries and volunteers with organizations such as the Peace Corps, American Red Cross, and other approved humanitarian organizations.

  2. What ages are eligible for Voluntary Service Term? Coverage is available to qualified people who are ages 19-27, inclusive, on the start date of their actual service. (A person who begins qualified service at age 27 would be covered for up to 24 months, during the period of service.) A parent, grandparent, spouse, or adult sibling of the person who will be serving may also submit the application.
